Beachcombers Haul On The West End Beaches

Seashells from Galveston Beach

The stormy spring weather stirred up the surf. A sunrise walk along the west end of the island revealed a plentiful assortment of cockle shells and whelk shells.

When these types of shells wash up along the shoreline, they are rarely intact. It’s easy to find bits and pieces, but beach combing this morning resulted in a haul of whole shells. There was plenty enough for everyone to collect a couple each along the west end beaches this morning.
