Carnival Sensation Beached for Scrapping
The former Carnival Sensation has been beached for scrapping. Previously operated by Carnival Cruise Line, the cruise ship will now be dismantled, with its building materials, fixtures and technical parts being sold off and repurposed.
Retired earlier this year, the Carnival Sensation is the fifth Fantasy-class ship being recycled. Following a final transatlantic crossing from Miami, the 1993-built vessel had arrived at the breaking yard earlier this week.
After entering service in November 1993, the 2000+ guest vessel Sensation offered year round cruising from various ports in the US including Miami, Tampa, New Orleans and Port Canaveral.
The ship was more recently utilized as a quarantine location – offshore in Galveston – for COVID-positive employees that were required to isolate while recovering.
Many former passengers recall special memories of the cruise ship. For old times sake, here is a video review of the vessel during it’s operational days.
