Rosenberg Day Festival

January 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Rosenberg Day Festival

Come help the Rosenberg Library celebrate 150 years of library service on Galveston Island! The first free, public library for Galveston residents opened in January 1871 as the Galveston Mercantile Library. The Rosenberg Library assumed operations of this library in 1904 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Rosenberg Day will take place inside and outside the library. Sealy St. between 23rd and 24th Streets will be closed to vehicles, and events will be in the Sealy Pavilion & Mary Moody Northen Plaza, on the East lawn, and in various spots inside the library.

Event includes:

  • Live Music!
    • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, AndyRoo and the AndyRooniverse
    • 1:00 – 4:00 pm, The Line Up
  • Galveston “Book Festival” – Author tent featuring local authors
    • Authors attending include Pat Jakobi, Kimber Fountain, Christine Hopkins, Ellen Beasley, Wren Richards, Penny Clark, Ed Cotham, Krystal Frenchwood, Merri Edwards, and Tommie Boudreaux.
  • Games and kids activities, including:
    • Petting zoo
    • Face Painting
  • Rosenberg Library “rummage” sale – Own a piece of Library history!
    • 2nd floor “treasure” hunt
  • 3-D printing demonstrations
  • Galveston Artists Abroad exhibit open in the 4th floor Harris Gallery
  • Food trucks, including:
    • Houston’s Pink Box
    • Coffee Cart from Odyssey Academy
  • Galveston’s Own Farmer’s Market

New programs and activities will be added here as they are scheduled, so check back often.

We hope to see you on January 15th as we celebrate all things “library!”
