Galveston Graduate Tristin McCollum Making Waves to the Superbowl

Galveston’s Own Tristin McCollum Making Waves in the NFL
Galveston is beaming with pride as one of its own, Tristin McCollum, continues to make a name for himself in the NFL. A true BOI (Born On Island), McCollum grew up in Galveston, played high school football at Ball High, and now suits up as a safety for the Philadelphia Eagles.
A Ball High Star
McCollum graduated from Ball High School in 2017, where he was a key player for the Tors. His athleticism and leadership on the field stood out, but he didn’t get the big-name college offers some players do. Instead, he took his talent to Sam Houston State University, proving that hard work and determination can open doors.
From Sam Houston to the NFL
At Sam Houston, McCollum was a defensive powerhouse. He played all four years and helped lead the Bearkats to an FCS National Championship in 2020. By the time he graduated in 2021, he had racked up impressive stats, including multiple All-Conference honors.
Despite going undrafted in 2022, McCollum didn’t give up. He signed with the Houston Texans before finding a home with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, he’s earning his place in the league, contributing on special teams, and working his way up the defensive roster.
A Family of Football Stars
Tristin isn’t the only McCollum making Galveston proud—his twin brother, Zyon, is a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The McCollum twins have put Galveston on the map, proving that talent and perseverance run in the family.
Galveston is Proud
As Tristin continues to make an impact in the NFL, the island is cheering him on. Whether you’re a lifelong Galvestonian or just visiting, it’s always great to see a BOI representing on the national stage. Keep making us proud, Tristin!
