Opened in 1993 by Galveston native Nathel (Nate) Charles Pacini Jr, Nate’s West End Bar and Grill has survived hurricanes, economic slow downs, and off season with a loyal local crowd that keeps coming back.

It’s only a short drive west of seawall to find Nate’s West End restaurant. This is a casual seaside dining experience. It’s a small place that is often packed full of customers. It has a full bar and outside seating as well, but it sure feels like a hometown diner.

The portions are large and the food is excellent. In addition to perfectly cooked fish and seafood, you can also get amazing chicken fried steak, amazing ribeye steaks as well as beef filet. The burgers are some of the best on the island. You’ll find a complete selection of fried fish and seafood.

Nate’s is a small restaurant located next door to Seven Seas Grocery. It seems kind of like a country home cafe with amazing entrees. You’ll find daily specials as well as happy hour specials. The grilled red snapper, fried oysters, shrimp, and fried catfish are all very good.

A wide variety of appetizers offer choices like shrimp kisses stuffed with mozzarella and jalapenos, wrapped in bacon, breaded and fried. That’s a slightly different take on a local favorite.

The seared Ahi Tuna is served with wasabi and a soy dip. They also have homemade gumbo with a rich dark roux served with rice. They also have homemade Texas style chili, perfect for those rare cold days on the coast.

Nate’s has recently changed ownership after the original owner died in 2019. The new owner also owns Tipsy Turtle, they are making some menu changes with plans to expand the dining area and the bar. Check them out and see how they do.

From Nate’s Westend Reviews:

We were on vacation on the Gulf, and chose Nate’s as our big family out-to-eat night. The food was delicious. The fried mozzarella sticks are a must.

We visit Nate’s at least once a week. Always had good food and great service. Would recommend their Cadillac drink!

We love their Onion Rings and the burgers are huge!!!! Tasty
Convenient for take out or dine in. Always packed… next visit I’m trying chicken fried steak…

We LOVE the pecan crusted snapper! It never disappoints. We eat here several times per month and it is consistently good. They have a really good Chicken Fried Steak sandwich and one of my favorites is the soft shell crab. Oh and the fried mushrooms are awesome and you get a ton of them. They have a really good tartar sauce too.

Nice seaside place, seafood dishes are diverse and serving sizes are plentiful. Had the hand breaded snapper – great! Kids had a Philly cheese steak and gumbo, both excellent. Wife’s salad was fresh. Great food, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a return-to when we’re back in town!

A favorite for locals and visitors alike: Miller’s Grill! You njow it’s good when there is always a line! If the wait is too long, check out these other seafood restaurants in Galveston
