Smoky Haze in Galveston Started in Abilene

smoke with cold front

A cold front rolled into Galveston this morning and along with it came a thick smoky haze over the entire sky. What smelled like a massive campfire turned out to be smoke from fires that burned hundreds of miles from the island.

The smoke came from smoke in from wildfires out in Abliene (Eastland County).

These smokey conditions will improve through the afternoon as the winds increase, but may return tonight once the wind slows down.
