Tall Ship ELISSA Day Sail

The 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA is a National Historic Landmark and the Official Tall Ship of Texas!

And now, ELISSA Day Sails are back in April! This is a one-of-a-kind adventure aboard the Official Tall Ship of Texas! ELISSA day sails give you the chance to enjoy the 1877 barque in Galveston’s gulf waters.

Galveston Historical Foundation offers a limited number of day sail spots on board ELISSA as a sail training student.

Participants can experience what life was like as a 19th-century sailor which includes both hands-on and lecture learning, focusing on setting sails and maneuvering the ship through the waters in the Gulf of Mexico.

Take this journey through the past and create your own unique experience of history.

This adventure is for sail trainees age 10 and older, children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

All sail trainees must be ambulatory without aids and comfortable with outdoor exposure for up to 6 hours. All trainees must sign a waiver of release in order to sail.

The adventure includes a course on how to sail a square-rigged ship, a 6-hour sail aboard the 1877 Iron Barque ELISSA, lunch, water and soda.

Dates for day sails are:
April 8th, 9th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 21st, 22nd
