Then & Now Bookshop

Then & Now Bookshop, a new bookstore in Galveston, Texas, grew from a series of popular pop-up shops before opening its permanent location on Postoffice. Founded by Beth Crowder, a retired preschool teacher and librarian, this woman-owned bookshop was inspired by her lifelong love of books and nudged into reality by her daughter. Beginning in 2023, Crowder began hosting pop-up events around Galveston. This is where she connected with the community, provided personalized book recommendations, and built local excitement about the book store. The success of these pop-ups set the stage for her cozy, eclectic brick-and-mortar store.

Galveston’s New Bookstore

The official grand opening of Then & Now Bookshop was held on October 19, 2024. This quaint book store offers both new and pre-loved books, from historical fiction and fantasy to children’s literature. In addition to books, the shop carries gifts, candles, and bookish accessories. It’s also a social hub, hosting a “Bring Your Own Book” club and other events for local readers to share and discuss their favorite finds.
